Award-winning Wines Can Come From South Jersey
Posted on February 22nd, 2010 No commentsOur cuddly curmudgeon, Shorty finally ventured out into the cold wintry air to accept a dinner invitation, but was less than impressed as you will see by his comments below. He did however manage to point out that good wine is something we do know about after visiting the Turdo Winery in North Cape May. See the video under the Eco/Outdoor button and read on…..
Bachus Up!
I think I may have stumbled upon a good thing. Last week, I blogged about cooking for myself. Apparently, the recipe I mentioned offended some folks. So much so, that I received a dinner invitation from a gentleman who wanted to treat me to an evening of ‘fine dining’. It occurred to me that my complaints might just merit some perks. So, I said ‘yes’ and that idea was put to rest last Wednesday evening.
We dined at the Meso-Meso Restaurant, an uptown establishment that guaranteed a moderate experience, adequate service and mediocre meal at inflated prices. They lived up, or should I say down, to their reputation. They brought the menus and he proceeded to display his knowledge of continental cuisine by reading it aloud.
The real circus took place while ordering wine. My host considered himself well-educated. I considered him a blowhard. He ordered a wine he could not pronounce, explaining the best wines come from far away. I’ve tasted better grape soda. Actually, I would have preferred grape soda.
Following our complementary after-dinner mint, I thanked him for a most forgettable meal and told him there are much better wines bottled in here, in South Jersey. He found that hard to believe and I spent the entire night finding the meal hard to digest. Of course I did direct him to watch the video the boys did when they found the Turdo Winery in Cape May County.
Here’s looking up at you, kids
